POMPEII

Pompeii is what remains of an old city founded on 56 B.C. by Romans. Pompeii was build by the sea at the bottom of the Lattari mountains, a strategic position for those times.
Unaware of having a boiling volcano at their back, one night of the 79 A.d., the Vesuvius erupted destroying Pompei and the nearby Ercolano. The lava covered the whole area burying Pompeii with their inhabitants. Only after 1700 years, Pompeii and Ercolano were brought to light again, and now it is the most fascinating open air museum in the world.
